“Where the Buffalo Roam” refers to the American hymn “Home on the Range,” an expression of freedom in a vast land.  It also refers to my Vietnamese birth animal.  I’m headstrong, independent, and a wandering soul by nature.  This blog is ostensibly devoted to exploring issues of foreign policy, human rights, and political and ethnic conflict in Southeast Asia.  I began writing it as an experimental project while embarking on a trip to explore the NGO activity and Burmese migrant crises in Mae Sot, in Northwestern Thailand.
